John Stuart Mill Principles of Political Economy

Quote from John Stuart Mill, Principles of Political Economy

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice; a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice, — is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.

Quote from Shaun Messick

Yes, our Father has a plan, Ciminae,” he said. “But he leaves it up to his children to accept his will. It is their agency. He cannot force his will upon them. If he did, he would cease to be God. They . . . we must choose for ourselves to accept his will with unbreakable faith in our Father. That is when the Father moves us to do his will.” (The Spirit. From Book 2, “Worlds Without End: Aftermath,” coming September 1, 2012)

Quote from Arthur Daigle, William Bradshaw and Fool’s Gold

It’s said on my world that the only thing evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing.” – Will Bradshaw

Inspiration may come from many places but motivation – the love of life, daily drive and the will to thrive – that must come from you from within

Quote from Samuel Lee, The Bible and the Closet or How We May Read the Scriptures with the Most Spiritual Profit: And Secret Prayer Successfully Managed

Nay, in many cases open denials of prayer prove the most excellent answers, and God’s not hearing us is the most signal audience. Therefore at the foot of every prayer subscribe “thy will be done,” and thou shalt enjoy preventing mercies that thou never soughtest, and converting mercies to change all for the best, resting confident in this, that having asked according to his will he heareth thee.

Quote from Paul E. Miller, A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World

Self-will and prayer are both ways of getting things done. At the center of self-will is me, carving a world in my image, but at the center of prayer is God, carving me in his Son’s image.

Quote from T.F. Hodge, From Within I Rise: Spiritual Triumph Over Death and Conscious Encounters with “The Divine Presence”

Huge difference between being happy at will, and chasing euphoric moments as an escape. One doesn’t cost a dime, the other will tax your soul.
